PAC (Parent Advisory Council)
Four years ago the Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Carl Roberts, created the Parent Advisory Council. The Council came about as an attempt by the Superindendent to increase effective communication between school system parents and the system administration regarding matters or topics of a "system" nature.
Each of the twenty-nine schools in the Cecil County Public School System is invited to send two representatives to five meetings per year. The School of Technology parent representatives are Charlotte Racine and Terri Widener. These two parents work very closely with Mr. Erbe and Mrs. Sudler to ensure that effective communications exist between the school and home, as well as the school system adminstration.
The topics or issues appropriate for the PAC are those associated with the operation of school or school system. Parent questions/concerns associated with an individual child should be directed to the teacher or school administration.
November's meeting topics included: Mathematics curriculum review, announcement of the dedication ceremony for George Washington Carver EducationLeadershipCenter in February, MRSA (Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus, and loss of state funding for FYI08-09.
January meeting topics are scheduled to include: Sexual predators in Cecil County and Gangs Presence in Cecil County.
Please stay informed and involved! ! Let you voice be heard by contacting our representatives with your comments and concerns. Ms Racine can be reached at (410) 996-6250 or email cracine@ccps.org.
